About Gina

Author. International Speaker. Systems Thinker.

Gina Buckney works at the intersection of human performance, modern leadership, and mindset — helping people understand how their minds operate under pressure, and how to work with them more intelligently.

I improved it by understanding myself better.”

From Technology to Human Performance

With a degree in Computer Science (Business Information Systems), Gina has spent over two decades leading complex transformation programmes across global organisations including BT Group, Barclays, and Lloyds Banking Group.

A rapid career climber, by her late twenties she was:

✅ Leading teams of 500+ people
✅ Responsible for transformation portfolios worth approximately £450m
✅ Operating in high-pressure, always-on environments across the UK and internationally

From the outside, it looked like success.
Inside, a different question surfaced:

I had everything I thought I wanted — so why wasn’t I happy?

A Turning Point

Like many high performers, Gina began searching for answers.

Her journey into self-discovery led her to explore and develop frameworks — including her Four Pillar Mindset — and to ask questions that would fundamentally change her relationship with work, success, and self:

🟡 Why am I the way I am?
🟡 Why do I prioritise work above everything else?
🟡 Why do I think the way I do?

This marked a shift toward metacognition — learning to observe how the mind works, rather than being driven by it.

After more than 16 years of questioning her thinking, mastering meditation, and advocating for mindfulness, it would have been easy to assume the work was “done”.

It wasn’t.

Gina began to recognise something deeper: patterns.

Mental patterns we can revert to — even when we know what needs to change, and even when we’ve changed before.

Because mental programming is not a moment.
It’s a process.
And real change requires getting to the root.

Burnout — and a Hard Truth

In her late thirties, Gina once again found herself at the top of her game — delivering one of the most complex IT transformation programmes of recent years at Lloyds Banking Group.

She successfully delivered an intense, relentless three-year programme.

And then came extreme burnout.

Forced to stop, she discovered something confronting:
she didn’t know how to rest.

Her mind wasn’t programmed for stillness — only achievement.
Without delivery, momentum, and external validation, she fell into depression.

That pause — uncomfortable and unwanted — became the moment everything changed.

In a fragile state of recovery, she began asking questions most leaders never do:

🟡 What truly happens inside the mind under pressure?
🟡 Why do capable, driven people reach breaking points?
🟡 What if performance isn’t about pushing harder — but thinking differently?

Where Journals Became Grounding

Out of the fog of burnout, a simple practice emerged.

Journaling — not as a trend, but as a tool.

🟡 A way to slow the mind
🟡 A way to close mental tabs
🟡 A way to rebuild from the inside out

At the same time, her dog, Angel Face, became a daily reminder of:

🟡 Presence
🟡 Routine
🟡 The quiet power of slowing down

These experiences became the foundation of MindWell.

A Framework for Modern Minds

The MindWell Collection

MindWell is Gina Buckney’s curated body of work — a collection of books and journals designed as a tonic for the mind.

The collection helps modern minds to:

✔ Understand how they think
✔ Work with pressure more intelligently
✔ Perform sustainably without burnout
✔ Regain a sense of control

Blending neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and systems-based thinking, the work is practical, reflective, and grounded in real life.
